Our client, a prestigious AM LAW 100 firm, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Billing Manager to join their dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced billing professional to take on a leadership role within a renowned legal practice. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of billing experience in a law firm environment, as well as supervisory experience. This is a key position within the firm's financial operations, and the successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of billing while leading a team of billing specialists.
Key Responsibilities:
Billing Management: Oversee the preparation and processing of client invoices in compliance with client guidelines and firm policies. Ensure accurate and timely billing for attorneys and clients.
Supervision: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of billing specialists, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations. Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
Client Relations: Serve as a primary point of contact for billing inquiries from clients and internal stakeholders, addressing any discrepancies or concerns in a professional and timely manner.
Compliance & Reporting: Ensure billing processes comply with firm policies, client requirements, and industry standards. Generate regular reports on billing metrics and team performance for senior leadership.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and client satisfaction. Implement best practices and technology solutions to streamline billing operations.
Collaboration: Work closely with attorneys, finance, and accounting teams to ensure proper billing procedures are followed and to resolve any billing issues.
Special Projects: Take on ad hoc billing-related projects and support the firm's overall financial operations as needed.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 7 years of billing experience in a law firm environment. Experience with time and billing software (such as Elite, Aderant, or similar) is highly desirable.
Supervisory Experience: Proven track record of managing, supervising, or leading a team of billing professionals, with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of billing systems, time entry procedures, and legal billing guidelines. Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word) and other billing-related tools.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to identify and resolve billing discrepancies efficiently.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex billing issues and find effective solutions.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with attorneys, clients, and internal teams.
Education: A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is preferred.
