Job Description:

A nonprofit organization in New York City is currently seeking an experienced professional to join their staff in Brooklyn as their new Assistant Building Director. Reporting to the Building Director, the Assistant Building Director will be responsible for ensuring effective property management and day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities:
The Assistant Building Director will:
  • Manage day-to-day operations in rent collection, lease renewals, subsidy management, tenant services, and office management.
  • Plan and execute the building's annual tenant recertification process to ensure compliance.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate direct reports, including Rent Administrators and the Office Manager.
  • Respond to tenant concerns and maintain contracts with outside vendors to support building operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of experience in property management and/or social services
  • Supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Experience working with special needs populations, Low Income Housing Tax Credit, housing subsidies, building systems, and operations preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interface effectively and efficiently with colleagues and tenants
