A nonprofit organization in New York City is currently seeking an experienced professional to join their staff in Brooklyn as their new Building Director. Reporting to the Vice President, the Building Director will be responsible for ensuring effective property management and day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities: The Building Director will:
Oversee building finances, including budgeting, monitoring modifications, and ensuring compliance with landlord-tenant laws and regulations
Work closely with social service partners to ensure tenants receive high-quality services and maintain their housing
Provide oversight of building staff, including direct supervision of Assistant Directors, and manage hiring, performance, and monitoring.
Oversee tenant rent collection, leasing, subsidy management, and recertification, ensuring all benchmarks are met.
Maintain a safe, clean, and structurally sound building through effective security, maintenance, and participation in preventive maintenance and capital upgrade programs
Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years' experience in property management or supportive housing
Minimum 5 years' experience in supervisory capacity. Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, manage, coach, and supervise others
Experience with social services, policy, and housing development preferred
Knowledge of local, state, and federal housing and social service regulations
Knowledge of funding sources for housing and social service programs
Strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and commitment to problem solving and creative thinking
