The Estimator will play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates for projects, analyzing project documents, and collaborating with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure comprehensive and competitive proposals.
Key Responsibilities
Review project plans, specifications, and documents to prepare precise cost estimates.
Analyze subcontractor and supplier bids to identify the most cost-effective options.
Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment.
Develop thorough estimates considering all allowances, contingencies, and escalation factors.
Coordinate estimate reviews with team members across departments.
Track historical cost data to support future project budgeting.
Provide and present cost estimates to various stakeholders.
Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost-saving measures without sacrificing quality.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of construction processes, sequencing, scheduling, and codes.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); Bluebeam experience preferred.
Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred but not required.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
3+ years of experience in commercial and/or multi-family construction estimating for projects valued between $1M and $20M.
5+ years of experience negotiating pricing, scopes, and materials.
