Position Description

The Project Management Consultant is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating projects according to agreed upon timelines and budgets. This scope includes building and managing project teams, reporting to the respective Project Sponsors and ensuring effective project management using the appropriate project management tools in a waterfall and agile client environment. Project categories include information technology, life sciences, research and development, manufacturing, and business process improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with respective project sponsor and stakeholders to develop effective project plans to include scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, risks, issues and milestone timing.
  • Complete work breakdown structure/ project work plan to estimate effort required.
  • Identify resources needed and assign individual responsibilities.
  • Clearly communicate expectations to team members and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate project team meetings or ceremonies effectively.
  • Resolve any issues and solve problems throughout project life-cycle.
  • Effectively manage project scope and/or timelines by ensuring any changes are documented and approved through the appropriate change management processes.
  • Determine if external consultants or contractors will be required to complete the project plan. Where required, manage integrated project plans of vendor team.
  • Track and report on project milestones and provide status reports to Project Sponsor and impacted stakeholders.
  • Lead, coach, and motivate project team members on a proactive basis.
  • Experience with or knowledge of agile principles.

Required Skills:
  • Able to create and manipulate project schedules and data management with project management tools and/ or software packages, such as MS Project (Required), ProChain (PCE) and Jira.
  • Demonstrated leadership managing people and/or cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working with multiple Agile concepts and methodologies including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Continually evaluates team scrum process capabilities and suggest/implement process improvements in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Experience working in a team oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Effective strategic, operational and management skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from senior management and other departments.
  • Solid analytical and strategic capabilities and business acumen along with demonstrated work ethic, integrity, and professional conduct and appearance.

Education and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Project Management Professional certification preferred.
  • Agile certifications; SAFe, CSM, CSPO, PMI-ACP, PSM I, etc.
  • 2+ years of industry experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device or manufacturing industries.
  • 3+ years of information technology, system implementation, or systems engineering project management experience.
