Lead AI Data Scientist | Hybrid

Optomi, in partnership with a global leader in the energy industry, is seeking a Lead AI Data Scientist to join their team. You will be responsible for driving AI and machine learning initiatives, guiding a team of data scientists and engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop advanced AI models and data-driven solutions.

What the right candidate will have:
  • 5+ years of experience in AI/ML research, data science, or software development.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing AI/ML models in a production environment.
  • Experience managing and/or mentoring teams of data scientists and engineers.
  • Strong understanding of AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, etc.) and tools (e.g., Jupyter Notebooks, Git).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java.
  • Expertise in machine learning algorithms (supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement learning, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of data structures, statistics, and probability theory.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (Azure and AWS) and ML Ops tools for model deployment and monitoring.
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, SQL/NoSQL databases) is a plus.
  • Experience in specific AI domains such as NLP, computer vision, speech recognition, or robotics.
  • Familiarity with ethical AI, model interpretability, and AI governance practices.
  • Contributions to open-source AI projects or publications in top-tier AI/ML conferences.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • A collaborative mindset with a focus on team success and continuous learning.

Responsibilities of the right candidate:
  • Develop and deploy machine learning models using Azure ML Studio and Databricks.
  • Create scalable AI solutions leveraging Azure's cloud infrastructure.
  • Optimize data workflows and model performance across our Azure-based AI ecosystem.
  • Lead and mentor a team of AI researchers, data scientists, and engineers to drive innovative solutions.
  • Define and implement AI strategies aligned with business goals and product roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and stakeholders to translate business problems into data-driven AI solutions.
  • Drive the adoption of best practices in machine learning, data science, and model development.
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of complex machine learning and AI models (e.g., deep learning, reinforcement learning, NLP, computer vision, etc.).
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and expectations.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, knowledge-sharing, and continuous learning within the team.
