The Technical Project Manager supports the Project Management Organization (PMO) and is a role that straddles two disciplines. In this role, project management principles are applied to highly technical projects. The technical project manager plans, schedules, and manages projects like any other project manager, but they are also technical and understand the technologies and architectures being used on the project.

The technical PM is responsible for the following:
Collaboration with the Director of PMO on project tasking and status
Prepare and status project plans and schedules
Ensure projects are utilizing funding effectively and meeting required burn rates
Coordination with cross-discipline team members to ensure that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines, and schedules
Meeting with project team members to identify and resolve issues
Submitting project deliverables and ensuring that they adhere to quality standards
Preparing status reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing relevant information
Establishing effective project communication plans and ensuring their execution
Facilitating change requests providing stakeholder knowledge of impacts
Coordinating the development of user manuals, training materials, and other documents as needed to enable successful implementation and turnover of the process or system to the clients
Hold regular technical team meetings to determine progress and address any questions or challenges regarding projects
Determine and define clear deliverables, roles, and responsibilities for staff members required for specific projects or initiatives
Risk identification and risk management
Identifying new opportunities with clients
Obtaining customer acceptance of project deliverables
Managing customer satisfaction within the project transition period
Conducting a post-project evaluation and identifying successful and unsuccessful project elements
Working with the customer to provide opportunities for on-contract growth
Ensuring they know enough about the technologies used on the project to effectively communicate status, issues, risks, etc.
Use their technical knowledge to effectively assist the project team in planning activities
Required Skills:
-5 - 10 Years of Experience
-Demonstrated understanding of project management processes, strategies, and methods
-Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality
-Experience gathering and managing requirements
-Experience leading technical projects
-Experience with risk identification and management
-PMP
Technical background in one of the following disciplines: software engineer, systems engineer, test engineer, networking, or cyber security
Preferred Skills
Security certification such as Security+ CE or CISSP
Experience working with NIST and other federal security requirements
