Job Description and Responsibilities
 

The Water Treatment Supervisor oversees the operation and maintenance of the Palmer Water Treatment Facility utilizing various process and treatment techniques to comply with company and other governing agencies regulations in the production of water that is used in the steel making processes.  Ensuring health and safety is the top priority and practiced by all supervised employees the water treatment supervisor ensures compliance with all safe work practices, policies, and processes implemented by the company and other governing agencies. 


  • Act as the primary point of contact to provide guidance and instruction to Water Treatment Operators, support staff, contractors and other agencies

  • Perform employee related duties such as scheduling, training and evaluations

  • Complete regular data compilation, analysis and reporting of systems

  • Assist department manager in the interpretation of water sampling trends, data trends and water quality issues as well as trouble shooting and directing maintenance during equipment repairs, routine maintenance or outages

  • Operate, maintain and inspect water treatment facilities and equipment to ensure compliance of governing organizations

  • Able to operate and provide knowledge of the processes associated with a zero liquid discharge facility, reverse osmosis, ultra filtration and automated cleaning systems

  • Perform Water Treatment Specialist job duties when needed to include but not limited to testing, chemical calibrating, inspections, etc.

  • Collect water samples from various stages of the treatment process and performs various testing to collect data and determine trend analysis in terms of water turbidity, chlorine residual, pH, color, alkalinity, residual chemicals and contaminants

Requirements


  • Two year degree in water treatment, civil engineering technology and 3 years experience or 5 years experience in water treatment

  • Reverse Osmosis Specialist 1 Certification required

  • Reverse Osmosis Specialist 2 Certification or able to obtain within the first 6 months of employment

  • Ultrafiltration water systems experience required

  • Experience working with interdepartmental teams in troubleshooting and repairs

  • Experience in water sampling, equipment calibration, maintenance and documentation as required by the company and governing bodies.

  • Must be able to wear respirator protection

  • Proficient in water treatment plant process

  • Proficient in water quality testing, root cause analysis and corrective action of issues

  • Proficiency in Clean in Place automated programming

  • Knowledge of intermediate mathematics, chemistry and water treatment technology; basic mechanics and electricity

  • Must be able to be on call and assist personnel in times of emergency and business needs

  • Ability to exercise good judgement in determining in the absence of Plant Operations management

Compensation

$95,000 - $100,000

Open & Closing Dates: 1/2/25 - 2/28/25
