The Director of Rehabilitation (DOR) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the rehabilitation department at an assigned facility or facilities. This includes, but is not limited to, the delivery of direct and indirect services to in-patients and out-patients, supervision of all therapy personnel, interviewing and recommending new hires, and training all therapy personnel. The DOR is tasked with implementing new programs to meet the needs of the facility and its residents. This role is delegated to the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary to provide both clinical and operational oversight for the delivery of rehabilitative services.

Essential Duties:


  • Directly supervise and guide all therapy personnel, including licensed, registered, certified therapists, assistants, aides, and students, within the assigned facility.

  • Manage daily scheduling for department staff to meet the needs of the facility.

  • Provide direct care and collaborate with supervisors to determine appropriate caseloads alongside management responsibilities.

  • Ensure that the rehabilitation needs of residents are met effectively and efficiently.

  • Conduct periodic reviews of therapy services and update them to align with changing needs and environments.

  • Adhere to all regulatory standards related to the delivery of rehabilitation services.

  • Ensure clinical documentation is complete, timely, and accurately reflects the services provided.

  • Perform periodic department documentation reviews.

  • Coordinate denial management activities to ensure timely claims and appeals in accordance with company procedures.

  • Meet or exceed productivity standards as established with the supervisor.

  • Ensure services delivered are of the highest quality and meet all standards of practice.

  • Implement and monitor new treatment programs, adjusting plans of care as needed based on outcomes.

  • Ensure the department follows established policies and procedures of the facility and company.

  • Approve timecards and manage time worked by department personnel.

  • Provide evaluation input for department employees and build relationships with local hospitals and referral sites.

  • Attend and participate in facility and company meetings as agreed upon with the facility and approved by the supervisor.

  • Consistently train staff on safe work practices, emphasizing good body mechanics, safety, and judgment to minimize work-related injuries.

  • Organize rehabilitation orientation for new department personnel and ensure all paperwork is completed and submitted timely to the appropriate human resources personnel.

  • Complete billing documentation timely and accurately, reflecting services provided in accordance with company standards.

  • Provide recommendations to supervisors on opportunities for improving company services.

  • Travel as necessary by car and/or plane to reach assigned destinations within reasonable time frames.

  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and company information.

  • Identify personal areas for development, training, and continuing education in conjunction with the supervisor.

  • Identify potential leaders within the company who align with specific job requirements.

  • Identify new sources of business and establish contacts.

  • Promote a positive attitude among staff, the community, and within the company regarding its mission statement, philosophies, and goals.


Supervisory Requirements: The DOR supervises PT/OT/SLP therapists, assistants, aides, and students.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology required.

  • Master's or Doctorate degrees in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology preferred.

  • Proficient in computer skills, including the ability to input data into programs such as Casamba and PointClickCare.
