Pay: $33.82/hr + $4.70/hr (Health & Wellness Benefit)

SA-TECH supports the U.S. Army Sustainment Command's Enhance Army Global Logistics Enterprise Logistics Support Services at Schofield Barracks, HI. We provide maintenance services in the form of above-brigade-level, field, sustainment, and limited depot-level maintenance support as well as transportation counseling services and handling passenger, equipment, and cargo movements for Army Field Support Battalion Hawaii's (AFSBn-HAW) assigned tactical units and government affiliated civilian agencies.


We are currently hiring an Automotive Painter at our Schofield Barracks, HI location. This position is assigned to the Maintenance Division and works under the general supervision and guidance of the Maintenance Division Manager.


Duties of the position involve the preparation and painting of Army tactical and commercial vehicles to include museum pieces, automotive, construction, power generation, and various material handling and support equipment.


In this position, you will be tasked with the application of primers, paints, lacquers, epoxies, urethanes, resins, or other required materials (using a variety of application methods such as brushes, rollers, spray guns or other devices) to the surfaces of supported equipment such as automobiles, buses, trucks, and generators. Automotive Painters may be required to remove old paint from vehicle surfaces using either liquid paint remover or scrapers and will prepare body panel surfaces with either acid solutions, steel wool, and/or sand paper to ensure that paint adheres to the surface and mask and cover portions of surfaces not to be painted. Vehicles or specified portion of vehicles may be required to be painted pattern-specific (camouflage) and may require insignias, letters, or numerals to be applied to vehicle surfaces using stencils.


Other duties include (but may not be limited to):

  • Applying rust-proofing products, degreasing, sanding, and/or spraying undercoating.
  • Proper labelling and disposition of generated and/or retrograde hazardous waste.
  • Maintain the paint booth by periodically changing booth filters and floor matting and performing general housekeeping within assigned work areas.
  • Additional duties may be assigned to support contract requirements in job-related areas.
  • Assisting general maintenance activities across associated support equipment.

Work Conditions:

  • Work is typically performed in well-ventilated and lighted areas with some lifting and moving of materials, although some work may be performed outdoors.
  • This position requires standing, walking, sitting, lifting/carrying, pulling/pushing, and reaching, squatting and kneeling while working either indoors or outdoors.
  • May be required to lift 10-50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Work under the supervision and guidance of the Operations Branch Supervisor.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and answer multiple phone calls.
Requirements:

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • HS diploma or equivalent required.
  • Special training through vocational or military schooling or at least three (3) years of applicable experience is also required.
  • Familiarity with SDS and hazardous waste disposal requirements is needed.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Forklift license/certification.
  • Current Hawaii Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain and maintain NACI investigation.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include Drug, SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
