Job Summary:


Under limited supervision, maintain Community Programs’ databases, communications, and outreach processes with the goal of elevating young changemakers to innovate solutions for a healthy ocean. Maintain up-to-date data on our engagement with community organizations; develop relationships with youth-serving community organizations, including in-person visits; support the development and delivery of culturally relevant Community Programs; monitor email communications and financial responsibilities; provide administrative support as needed; perform other duties as required. Additionally, support a work culture of equity and accountability demonstrated by leadership and interactions with colleagues and partners, both internal and external; encourage strong relationships among and between program participants, volunteers, and staff; adhere to equitable processes to guide new staff and volunteers. Perform other duties as required.


Core Activities:



  • Create and generate routine reports for Education Community Programs

    • Generate existing reports

    • Create new reporting, data visualizations, dashboards, lists, etc., to inform strategic decisions



  • Update and audit data in the Education Division’s CRM (Salesforce), ticketing platforms (Ticketure), and task-management software (Asana), ensuring program integrity, accuracy, completeness, relevance, and program participation.

  • Attend community events (schools, community orgs, teacher workshops, recruitment, etc.)

    • Engage with program attendees, answer questions, distribute materials

    • Develop and maintain community relationships

    • Gather feedback about our programs and share outcomes with the Community Program Manager



  • Research organizations and schools as potential partners and participants across all Education programs.

  • Conduct outreach to community partner locations. (e.g., phone calls, emails, in person visits, etc.).

  • Respond to initial incoming Education service tickets (Fresh Service) in a timely manner; route inquiries to appropriate groups/staff for responses and provide stellar customer service to educators, program participants, and partners.

  • Recommend improvements in program effectiveness, activities, and outcomes.

  • Provide administrative support as needed, including proofreading communications, overseeing calendars and room reservations, and maintaining an inventory of Community Programs assets, resources, and office supplies

  • Coordinate the planning and execution of event schedules, including booking spaces at local organizations and ensuring the availability of necessary equipment and materials


Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):



  • BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated success meeting deadlines

  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems resourcefully

  • Excellent oral communication, formal writing skills, time management, and organizational skills

  • Experience in task and detail-oriented positions, must be able to work both as a member of a team and independently, with minimal supervision

  • Experience building relationships with community organizations

  • Experience in our local communities, specifically Seaside, Marina, Watsonville, and Salinas

  • Strong lens for diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility

  • Experience with data management systems, Salesforce preferred

  • Familiarity with a reservation software such as TicketureTessitura

  • Intermediate knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Outlook, or similar office applications

  • Familiarity with Google Suite products

  • Strong and effective interpersonal skills

  • Beginning to intermediate data analysis skills

  • Conversational Spanish desired

  • Assumes defined roles in support of professional and personal development as needed and/or desired

  • Ability to work within, and maintain Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Core Values


Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Job Functions:



  • Typical office equipment, MBA vehicles

  • Constant sitting, standing, walking, bending

  • Occasional unassisted lifting up to 50lbs

  • Typical office environment, main aquarium and exhibits, occasional offsite events, visits to community organizations and schools, occasional offsite events


Hourly Compensation Range Minimum:


$25.00- $28.37 USD per hour. Starting rate will vary based on previous experience and relevant skills/knowledge set.
