Join GHD's Emergency Management (GHD FIRST) team as an Environmental Scientist/Engineer and kickstart your career in environmental consulting. In this role, you'll support environmental projects and emergency response efforts, working closely with clients, regulatory agencies, and senior team members to deliver effective solutions. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting environmental sampling and monitoring, assisting with project coordination, and contributing to client deliverables.

GHD Fast Incident Response Services Team (GHD FIRST) delivers turnkey, 24/7/365 incident response and management services throughout North America. The GHD FIRST team provides the following core services:

• Emergency Preparedness, Planning, and Drills
• Environmental/ Remediation Services
• Incident Management / Incident Command System (ICS)
• Air Monitoring/ Industrial Hygiene
• Waste Management
• Toxicology/ Risk Assessment
• Geographic Information Systems (GIS)/ Database
• Shoreline Clean-up Assessment Technique (SCAT)
• Digital Technology/ Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Services
• Construction/ Construction Management Services
• Crisis Communication and Community Engagement
• Litigation Support

GHD has more than 100 offices across North America with over 200 staff trained in emergency response and emergency management procedures. Listed below is a management role currently open to grow and further develop the GHD FIRST business sector within GHD.


Responsibilities of the position will be but are not limited to:

• Assist with the coordination of environmental and emergency response projects, including tracking project scope, schedules, budgets, and reporting under the guidance of senior team members.
• Support the preparation of technical correspondence, reports, work plans, and cost estimates, while performing data collection, analysis, and comparison to regulatory standards.
• Provide on-site assistance for environmental emergencies and fieldwork, traveling as needed to meet client and project requirements.
• Maintain and prepare response equipment to ensure readiness for deployment.
• Conduct environmental sampling and monitoring for various media and contaminants following established protocols and under supervision.
• Collaborate with GHD subject matter experts to contribute to technically accurate project deliverables.
• Participate in business development activities, including assisting with proposals and supporting efforts to expand client relationships.
• Support visibility initiatives by attending and contributing to regional seminars, conferences, or client events as a representative of GHD.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, contributing to effective communication and teamwork across GHD's service lines.
• Be available for afterhours response to attend environmental emergencies to perform field tasks throughout the USA. Must be willing to travel as needed to meet client requirements.

What you will bring to the team:

• 2-4+/- years of environmental experience
• Keen interest for long term career growth and development within the GHD FIRST program.
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or a related field
• Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, team player and leader
• Ability to present technical information in a concise and professional manner
• Willingness to respond to call outs during non-routine working hours
• Strong problem-solving abilities and skill
• Experienced in emergency preparedness, air monitoring, environmental assessment/sampling, ICS, SCAT, PHMSA is a plus!
• Experience with railroad and pipeline related emergencies is a plus!
• Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet project timelines
• Advanced computer skills in a Windows-based platform
