The Comprehensive AIDS Program has an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker, LCSW position. The incumbent works with clients in order to help them deal with issues involving mental and emotional health. This position provides emotional support, mental health evaluations and therapy, and case management services.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Advocates for and helps clients gain access to resources while confronting their personal issues.
Counsels and provides crisis intervention for patients, including assessment and treatment of behavioral problems.
Coaches patients on how to manage ongoing health conditions.
Provides therapy to help patients make positive behavior changes.
Assists patients and their families through individual, group, and education conferences to understand, accept, and follow treatment recommendations.
Refers patients and their families to specialized treatment programs in accordance with their needs, and monitors and evaluates their progress.
Collaborates with the other departments to integrate care where needed.
Maintains current and appropriate documentation in patient chart.
Acts as a mandated reporter in suspected child abuse cases.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Department Specific Functions
Licensed Mental Health Counselor responsibilities include screening, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and counseling services offered to people with HIV. Services are based on a treatment plan, conducted in an outpatient group or individual session, and provided by a mental health professional licensed. The position requires the provider to complete a treatment plan, an assessment and diagnosis which shall be used to inform the treatment goals and objectives and clinical interventions. The Mental health counselor will conduct the assessment and diagnostic steps for the development of a treatment plan. The Provider will render services limited to conditions impacting the treatment of the client's underlying HIV disease (i.e., assessing, diagnosing, and treating a mental health condition that hinders HIV treatment adherence) and treated within the context of the client's HIV or AIDS diagnosis. Services are intended to address HIV-related issues and strengthen coping skills to increase adherence and access to ongoing medical care and treatment. Mental health professional will regularly gauge the client's progress and determine if the client is still in need of Mental Health Services require reimbursed under Part A or MAI of the Ryan White Program and all documentation must be placed in the appropriate systems. the service.
