Position Summary: The Senior Database Administrator (DBA) will support and assist in the management of the design, implementation, and maintenance of a hybrid data ecosystem to ensure high availability, performance, and security. This role involves managing complex database environments, providing technical expertise, and collaborating with various teams to support the organization's data needs. The role will oversee a large portfolio of on prem SQL Server databases and a limited number of Oracle databases in addition to a growing Azure cloud data management environment.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Database Management: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of relational database management systems both on-premises and in the Azure cloud.


  • Azure Data Services: Architect the design and implementation of the Azure data management services such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake Storage for efficient data handling and processing.


  • ETL Processes: Design, implement, and manage ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure efficient data integration and transformation across various data sources.


  • Performance Tuning: Conduct ongoing analysis and remediation of performance, capacity, efficiency, reliability, and security for SQL databases.


  • Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain database backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.


  • Security: Implement and maintain security procedures in compliance with organizational policies and industry standards (e.g., HIPAA, FERPA).


  • Technical Support: Provide technical assistance for all production database-related issues and support applications development and data engineering teams with database design, normalization, and query optimization.


  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.




Minimum Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in database administration for an enterprise environment, with extensive experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration.

  • Proficiency in SQL programming, including the development of stored procedures, custom functions, scheduled jobs, and SSIS packages.

  • Experience with Azure data management services such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake Storage.




Desired Qualifications:



  • 6 - 8 years of experience in database administration, with extensive experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration.

  • Working knowledge of Security and Privacy Standards (e.g., HIPAA, FERPA)

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300) or Data Engineer Associate (DP-203)




Work Environment:



  • Regular business hours with some rare evening and weekend work required for critical issue resolution and project implementation.

  • Opportunity to work exclusively remote, hybrid, or fully onsite.

Additional Information:


Expected Salary Range



  • Job profile range: $87,400 - $114,900

  • Offers will be made within this range based on candidate qualifications, available budget, and internal equity.

  • You must be eligible to live and work in the United States without any need for work authorization or sponsorship, now or in the future.
