Job Title:Laboratory Research Operations Senior TechnicianDepartment:EHE | Teaching and Learning Administration


Laboratory Research Operations Senior Technician coordinates day-to-day research activity for an Institute of Education Sciences funded research study of LETRS, a professional learning program to support literacy that is widely used in US schools. The project will evaluate impacts on teacher knowledge, classroom literacy practices, and student literacy learning. The position manages the day-to-day implementation of research activities at OSU for a federally funded research project that involves multiple universities, schools, children, and families. The position oversees the long-term and day-to-day setting of and monitoring progress towards project deliverables. Coordinates, supervises, and trains research team members. Develops and maintains relationships with research partners. Monitors data collection and coding including quality control checks. Organizes and leads OSU staff meetings, additional trainings, and workshops as needed. Contributes to classroom observation coding; oversees human subjects reports and compliance. Prepares project documentation including annual reports. Performs other duties as assigned to support the Principal Investigator in achieving all project deliverables. Possibility of hybrid work within the state of Ohio.




This is a 50% FTE, 20 hours a week position.

Develops and maintains relations with all project entities (sub-awards/research partners, consultants), overseeing and organizing ongoing project meetings and communications. Manages and provides leadership for daily project activities and to all OSU project staff (including problem solving any personnel issues), developing agendas and maintaining minutes for key project meetings and acting on project-wide decisions; assisting the PI as needed.

Monitors, supports, and engages in ongoing data collection activities; codes classroom observations; monitors completeness and integrity of project activities and data. Provides supervision of data-related activities and personnel; interfaces with data management core in the CCEC and data-related staff at collaborating institutions.

Oversees and assesses progress towards all project deliverables relative to MOU with grant-funded agency. Corrects timelines and staff allocations as needed. Provides updates to investigators on progress towards key deliverables regularly.

Generates and oversees documentation of all project activities, including annual reports, quarterly reports, and all paperwork required for human subject documentation and assurances.





Required Experience:

High School diploma or GED required. Two years of relevant experience required. Experience working in a school, research, or university setting. Supervision experience. Considerable experience in project planning. Strong oral and written communication skills. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and OneDrive. Reliable means of transportation to/from the Crane Center. Must pass FBI/BCI background checks.



Desired Experience:

Experience working in a research setting, desired. Experience with database and related computer software programs. Experience in a social science research capacity desired. Experience with psychological and/or educational assessments. Previous experience leading a team. 4-6 years of relevant experience preferred.





The Target Hiring Range for this position is $22.69/hr - $29.83/hr
