Job Description:

Do you have a passion for HR? Do you like working in a food manufacturing environment? The Krusteaz Company is looking for an HR Manager to join the Kent Plant Team! The HR Manager position serves as a member of the Plant leadership team, providing a comprehensive range of HR management and business partnership services to the Plant in support of The Krusteaz Company’s culture and strategy. Responsibilities include managing recruiting and staffing, talent and performance management, employee relations, labor strategy, developmental training, benefits and leave administration, compensation management, human resources systems, and HR related legal compliance.  This position strategically partners with Corporate HR, and Plant Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Finance, and Engineering to position the plant for success and continuous improvement. 

Essential Functions: Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time.


  • Provides leadership and management for the plant Human Resources team and function, supervising one or more direct reports. Develops and administers human resources plans, processes, and procedures for plant employees.

  • In conjunction with the company-wide Human Resources team, develops and administers Company HR programs, policies, procedures, and practices.

  • Develops plant HR goals and objectives that align with and support the plant’s strategic goals.

  • As part of the leadership team, plans and implements organizational changes with a focus on ensuring accepted and effective employee communications.

  • Develops strategies to promote positive employee relations by establishing and implementing employee programs and promoting a climate of trust, cooperation, and confidence.

  • Provides coaching, mentoring, and consulting services to managers and employees.

  • Maintains job descriptions to support recruitment, compensation, performance management, and other HR functions.

  • Manages the plant sourcing and recruiting process to select top talent, train, and develop employees.

  • Ensures plant compensation programs are competitive: evaluates and analyzes market pay data, develops annual wage recommendations, and communicates compensation updates to managers and employees for Pay for Skills and non-Pay For Skills compensation plans while partnering with Corporate HR for non-Pay for Skills compensation plans.

  • Coaches managers in the overall performance management process to ensure timely communication to employees. Develops, establishes, and delivers training and development programs for managers and for the general employee population.

  • Establishes and maintains accurate employment records and practices that fulfill legal, corporate and general business requirements.

  • Manages the plant’s workers’ compensation program.

  • Knowledge of Windows-based HRIS and MS Office applications.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of time.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in HR.

  • Prefer a minimum of 3 years in HR management, including in a manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated competence working in a broad range of functional areas of Human Resources.

  • HR certification through SHRM or HRCI a plus.

Attendance:

To support ongoing business goals and successfully contribute to your team, acceptable levels of performance and attendance must be consistently maintained, including attending all required meetings and events. Requires the flexibility to work non-standard hours as needed.

Quality:

Follows procedures to ensure all food quality standards are met or exceeded. Must also produce quality work measured by efficiency, accuracy, and completion of both personal and company goals in a manner that embodies CM values and our culture of integrity, dignity and respect.

Safety/Legal:

Employees are required to conduct their work in a safe and legal manner, according to all GMP food safety standards as well as following all compliance and CM safety protocols. Employees must be willing to be responsible for their safety and health as well as the safety and health of all employees, vendors and visitors.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone along with reaching. Specific vision abilities include close vision requirements due to computer work. Moderate noise, ability to work in a confined area, and ability to sit at a computer for an extended period of time are also included.  Ability to effectively communicate and work in a dynamic environment.

Salary Information: An employee in this position can expect a salary range between $100,524 and $165,851. We typically pay out between $113,000 and $144,000. The actual salary offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including internal equity, experience, education, certification, training, and location. All positions are eligible for additional incentives based on business performance.
