Position: Senior Software Engineer
Job Location: 860 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086
Duties: Build and operate highly scalable backend software services that can serve thousands of requests per second to serve Advertisements on Walmart.com. Leverage open-source technologies including Storm and Kafka to build high performance and scalable software solutions for improving the latencies of the software services. Architect and improve backend software systems and data pipelines in collaboration with the team. Identify existing bugs, flaws, and leaks and fix the gaps in software systems. Develop robust, maintainable, reusable software code and software tools for managing configuration, deployment, monitoring, performance, scalability, availability, security and alerting for test, integration, and production environments. Identify the bottlenecks, fine-tune the software services, and explore state-of-the-art technologies to migrate existing software services to improve efficiency/failure-rates and meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (any) or related field and 2 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment; OR Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (any) or related field and 5 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment.
Skills required: Experience coding in Object Oriented Programming including Java, Scala, and Python. Experience designing and implementing REST API web services using Web Framework. Experience with data pipelines using Big Data Hive. Experience designing and implementing Real time data streaming pipeline using Apache Storm. Experience implementing Distributed Event Streaming platform for real time pipelines using Apache Kafka. Experience implementing and integrating NoSQL Database including Cassandra onto realtime pipelines. Experience testing using Junit Testing and Unit Testing. Experience with Project Management Tools Jira and Asana. Experience with Code Version Control System Git. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
Salary Range: $174,518/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
