Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Global Tax Provision Director to lead the preparation and oversight of the company's global tax provision process. This role will report directly to Head of Tax to ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards ASC 740, provide technical expertise on complex tax matters, and manage the effective reporting of tax provisions across jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of tax accounting and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Tax Provision Preparation and Review:
Lead the preparation and review of the global tax provision, including the current and deferred tax calculations, as well as Tax payable reconciliation, ensuring compliance with ASC 740.
Manage the effective tax rate (ETR) calculation and reporting, analyzing key drivers and variances.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of the tax provision in quarterly and annual financial statements.
Technical Tax Accounting:
Provide technical expertise on complex tax accounting matters, including uncertain tax positions, valuation allowances, and foreign tax credits, R&D tax credit.
Maintain documentation to support tax positions and ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls.
Monitor and assess changes in tax laws and accounting standards to evaluate their impact on the company's financial statements
Collaboration with Internal and External Stakeholders:
Partner with finance, accounting, and legal teams to ensure alignment on tax reporting and compliance matters.
Coordinate with external auditors to manage the tax provision audit process, including responding to inquiries and providing documentation.
Work with regional and local tax teams to gather data and ensure consistency in reporting across jurisdictions.
Review other jurisdictions tax provision and tax payable workpaper, prepare or review foreign tax RTP.
Process Improvement and Technology Optimization:
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the tax provision process.
Leverage tax reporting software and tools to streamline data collection and reporting.
Develop and maintain templates, workflows, and best practices for global tax provision processes.
Leadership and Team Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Provide training and guidance on tax accounting and provision processes to internal teams.
Qualifications:
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., master's in taxation, JD, or MBA) preferred.
CPA is required.
Big 4 CPA firm tax experience is required.
Experience:
Minimum of 15 years of experience in tax accounting and provision, with a strong focus on global operations.
In-depth knowledge of ASC 740, and US GAAP tax accounting standards.
Experience with multinational corporations or public accounting (Big 4 experience preferred).
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in GL and tax provision software (e.g., OneSource, SAP, or similar platforms).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex tax regulations.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
Highly organized with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Salary Range
200,000 - 250,000
The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
