Role Description Substitute teachers provide large and small group instruction in Expatiates special education program located in various charter schools and large district campuses. The substitute teacher position serves mild/moderate to severely disabled students, students who are deaf and hard of hearing as well as the visually impaired.Responsibilities: Assist the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans andactivities for reading, writing and math Support students in their learning and provide individualizedattention as needed Help maintain a safe and organized classroom environment Assist with classroom management and behavior guidance Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement educationalstrategies for reading, writing and math Supervise students during various activities for reading, writingand math Tutor and reinforce learning in small groups or one-on-one,adapting to individual needs Help organize the learning environment and set up instructionalmaterials/equipment Support teachers with individual and group instruction and assistwith student movement across the school Maintain routine records and files related to classroom activities Regularly consult with the teacher on instructional goals, studentprogress, and behavior Help maintain a clean, safe, and cooperative classroom Supervise students during lunch, recess, and transportation Keep student records and classroom information confidential Attend in-service training and staff meetings Perform other duties as neededExperience:Prior experience working with children is preferredKnowledge of curriculum development and classroom support techniques for reading, writing and mathFamiliarity with special education principles is a plusAbility to work effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and learning needsExperience in childcare, daycare, or early childhood education is beneficialCompetencies:Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to teach middle school level reading, writing and mathExcellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.Ability to follow through with tasks with minimal or no supervisionKnowledge, Skill & Other Requirements:Must be legally eligible to work in CaliforniaBachelors degree requiredCBEST CertificationMinimum one (1) year of paid or volunteer work (equivalent to 100 hours)Basic understanding of child development and behavior recblid fbov0p7jfoogo8mgye8cfxj6f9v1wn
