SA-TECH supports the U.S. Army Sustainment Command's Enhance Army Global Logistics Enterprise Logistics Support Services at Schofield Barracks, HI. We provide maintenance services in the form of above-brigade-level, field, sustainment, and limited depot-level maintenance support as well as transportation counseling services and handling passenger, equipment, and cargo movements for Army Field Support Battalion Hawaii's (AFSBn-HAW) assigned tactical units and government affiliated civilian agencies.


We are seeking a motivated Heavy Equipment Mechanic (HMVM) to join our Maintenance Division in Hawaii to perform a full range of field and sustainment-level automotive/mechanical repair tasks across a variety of Army tactical & commercial equipment to include, bulldozers, scrapers, excavators, forklifts, cement trucks, vehicle mounted cranes, tractors, FMTVs, HMMWVs, PLSs, generators, and special purpose tracked and wheeled vehicles.


Primary Functions:

  • Must be able to complete all work within reasonable/allowable timeframes as prescribed in respective Maintenance Allocation Charts (MAC).
  • Repairs must be completed in accordance with technical manuals, SOUM, MWO, and/or local directives.
  • HMVM duties include the removal, installation, modification, cleaning, adjusting, and repair of major automotive assemblies across the maintenance standards of general support and limited depot-level repair actions as authorized in Army Regulation 750-1.
  • HMVMs are expected to troubleshoot and analyze malfunctions while executing repair actions across assigned equipment and are required to perform in-process inspections in order to identify discovery faults.
  • Utilize and interpret technical manuals while performing causative research to identify corrective actions.
  • HMVMs will document all findings and corrective actions accordingly utilizing a DA Form 2404.
  • HMVMs will dismantle and reassemble equipment using hand and special equipment tools, examine parts for excessive wear using micrometers and gauges, replace defective engines and subassemblies, and test overhauled equipment to ensure operational capability and repair adequacy.
  • HMVMs will identify parts and materials required for repairs and document the work effort and assist the HMVM Lead in completing work order documentation.
  • Ensure AP 750-8 TAMMS standards are met.
  • Additional duties may be assigned to support contract requirements in a job-related areas.
  • Assist general maintenance activities across associated support equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a building that is moderately heated, lighted and ventilated.
  • Work may be performed indoors and outdoors and may be subject to inclement weather conditions.
  • Must be able to stand, bend and work in cramped positions and be able to routinely lift items weighing up to 50 pounds, unassisted.
  • This position will be based in Hawaii, and candidates must either reside in the area or be willing to relocate at their own expense.
  • Occasional cross-training and flexibility may be required to assist in other job areas.
Requirements:

Education/Experience/Skills

  • High School or equivalent.
  • Specialized training through vocational or military school and/or a minimum of (5) years related experience.
  • Broad scope of mechanical expertise related to equipment operations across tactical & commercial heavy equipment.
  • Respective skillset needed to troubleshoot and perform all levels of field and sustainment-level maintenance on both either diesel or gasoline engines, as well as the repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems associated with all types of heavy equipment.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. unassisted on a regular basis.
  • Current Hawaii Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain and maintain a federal Secret clearance.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
