Reporting to the Director of Research and Policy of HousingWorks RI (HWRI), the Research Analyst works in close partnership with other HWRI staff, members of the HWRI Advisory Board, members of the Roger Williams University community, and other policy organizations, to research, analyze, and report on data relevant to public policy, concerning housing in Rhode Island, ongoing housing dialogue, and the State's economic future.

Research and Data Analysis

Conduct housing and economic demographic data analysis, both locally and nationally, using a range of indicators to support the development of HWRI publications and strategic initiatives.

Serve as lead researcher on projects assigned by the Director.

Draft and edit publications.

Partner with University Faculty on research and data analysis.

Outreach and Engagement

Represent HWRI on various boards and committees as requested by the Director.

Present reports and information to policy makers, community partners, and other interested groups.

Identify new opportunities, topics and partners for projects and publications.

Confidentiality

Ensure strict confidentiality is practiced for all matters concerning HWRI when conducting research and data analysis as required by the RWU Human Subject Review Board.

Additional Functions

Support all related activities associated with the University as needed.

Participate in special projects or assignments.

This is a grant-funded position that is contingent upon the existence and availability of external funding.



Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.

Two years experience in policy analysis and research.

Experience conducting statistical analyses of administrative data sets and preparing reports using qualitative and/or quantitative data.

Demonstrated analytical and statistical skills with experience using statistical applications such as SPSS and/or SAS.

Experience with the US Census American Community Survey and Public Use Microdata Set.

Demonstrated understanding of topics related to municipal planning and land use.

Effective problem solving skills with great attention to detail.

Ability to work effectively in a team without close supervision.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Advanced proficiency with standard MS Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in a related discipline.

Experience with ArcGIS.

Knowledge of how housing policy intersects with other issue areas such as education, health, and the economy in RI.

At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be accepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
