The Nebraska Department of Natural Resources (NeDNR) is looking for an Information Technology Senior GIS Analyst/Developer to work closely with the Department's IT and GIS teams. This position title is Information Technology Applications Developer Senior, and the hourly rate is $34.490. We are looking for an individual with great communication skills, problem-solving techniques, and GIS knowledge who will coordinate with NeDNR staff in developing and maintaining our Department's GIS systems and applications.
Job duties:
The GIS Analyst will, with supervision, be responsible for:
Participating in appropriate committees at the Department and State levels
Creating and maintaining Department Enterprise GIS databases
Creating and maintaining GIS applications and interactive maps
Creating tools for process improvement for the Department's Divisions
Creating and maintaining templates, figures, forms, and GIS project files
Creating and updating metadata for Department GIS Features
Creating and maintaining Field Data Collection Applications
Responsibilities require tact, discretion, independent judgment, and frequent interaction with staff. Assist supervisor and team members in developing technical designs, project plans, schedules, and status reports.
Requirements/ Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering, or other related field and two years of experience, education, or training in coding computer applications; programming experience can be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: A bachelor's degree with major coursework in GIS or another related field. Preference will be given to candidates possessing experience with ESRI software and applications.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Familiarity with geospatial concepts, practices, and procedures including coordinate systems, projections, topology, LiDAR, and FEMA requirements. Familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS Online, Story Maps, and Enterprise GIS environments. Ability to analyze needs and user requirements. Effectively communicate, develop, and document information and ideas. Working knowledge of the following tools: Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access.
