Key Responsibilities:
Timely Patient Evaluations: Provide initial evaluations within 24 hours of referral, ensuring quick, efficient care. If delays occur, document the cause clearly for smooth communication.
Develop & Implement Treatment Plans: Collaborate with the referring physician to develop personalized treatment plans and provide treatment per their guidance.
Supervision & Collaboration: Lead Speech Language Pathology Assistants in patient care while following state practice regulations. Communicate openly with your supervisor and interdisciplinary team about patient progress, challenges, and plans.
Teamwork at its Best: Participate in Patient Care Conferences, Utilization Reviews, and Rehabilitation Meetings to collaborate and provide the best possible care.
Ongoing Learning & Training: Take part in in-service training programs for fellow staff members and help develop the next generation of Speech Pathologists by acting as a clinical preceptor for CFY/RFPs and students.
Patient & Family Education: Help prepare patients and their families for success after discharge by training caregivers and providing maintenance program instructions.
Comply with Standards: Ensure documentation is up to date with required evaluations, treatment notes, and progress reports, while meeting all state and insurance requirements.
Discharge Planning & Beyond: Play an active role in discharge planning to ensure patients leave with the tools they need for continued success at home.
What You'll Need:
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Speech Language Pathology (preferred Master's or Doctorate). Prior experience is a plus, but a passion for patient care is a must!
Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using electronic health record systems like Point Click Care.
Great Communication Skills: Ability to engage with patients, families, and team members effectively, providing clear, compassionate updates and support.
Problem-Solving: Quick thinking and the ability to solve practical challenges in the moment.
Licensing: Must be a licensed Speech Language Pathologist in the state with active continuing education to maintain licensure.
Physical & Environmental Demands:
This position involves standing and walking frequently, along with occasional sitting and occasional lifting (up to 100 pounds) to support patient care.
Work is in a low to moderate noise environment, and reasonable accommodations are available.
