The SHRM Foundation mobilizes resources, partnerships, and evidence-based programming to educate and empower HR professionals to hire diverse talent, build inclusive workplaces, and help employees find purpose at work and beyond. That work is pursued in three main pools of work: (1) broadening access to work for all, including particularly untapped pools of talent such as people with disabilities, justice-impacted individuals, and military veterans and their families; (2) expanding and diversifying the HR field, including through the distribution of scholarships, grants, and awards; and (3) tackling societal challenges that are affecting or will affect the HR field, with a particular current focus on health and well-being.

The SHRM Foundation is seeking a Grants Manager to lead our grant research, writing, and management efforts. In this role, you will identify and pursue funding opportunities at the federal, state, and local levels, collaborating with internal teams and external consultants to develop compelling grant applications. You will oversee the implementation and compliance of funded programs, ensuring alignment with regulatory and funding requirements. Your expertise will drive successful grant execution, reporting, and impact evaluation, enabling the organization to achieve its goals in workforce development and education.

Grant Research/Prospecting and Writing:

  • Participate in the research and identification of government and foundation grant opportunities at federal, state, and local levels. Ensure effective and efficient collaboration with federal/state grant consultant.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to inform program design, gather necessary information, and documentation for grant applications.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of grant opportunities, submissions, and outcomes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, prospective funders, and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide training and support to staff on grant writing and program management best practices.

Grant Management:

  • Oversee the implementation and management of funded grant programs, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and funding requirements.
  • Work closely with program staff, finance, and other departments to ensure successful grant proposal development and program execution.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor program progress and performance, making adjustments as needed to meet objectives and deadlines.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to funding agencies, including financial and programmatic reports.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure all grant activities comply with organizational policies, funding requirements, and legal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of grant proposals, awards, and program expenditures.
  • Conduct regular audits of grant-funded programs to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Stay current with changes in government grant regulations and funding trends.

Qualifications:

  • At least 8 years of relevant experience
  • Experience conceptualizing workforce development and education-related programming.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit organization.
  • Proven track record of securing significant grants and successfully managing funded programs.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of fiscal responsibility for grant funds.
    • Proven track record in contributing to the development and writing of complex federal, regional and state grant applications and reports.
    • Demonstrated ability of federal grants management, program performance, data retrieval, and report writing skills.
    • Knowledge of federal and state grant relations, prospect research and stewardship.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.
  • Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Work environment

  • Work is regularly performed in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
  • Expected travel is 20-30% of the time.

The hiring range for this position is $105,000 to $130,000 per year. This range is an estimate and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
