The Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Clinic in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Revenue Cycle Representative. This is an opportunity to work with a specialized clinical support team in one of the highest rated speech and hearing programs in the US.
The Revenue Cycle Representative is responsible for assisting the Revenue Cycle Manager, working from work queues in the Epic system, to follow up on unpaid and denied claims, insurance and patient payment posting, insurance verification, initiate and follow through for required prior authorizations, schedule patient appointments using the Epic system and provide scheduling coverage in staff absence. Training will be provided.
Revenue Cycle Representative must have an exceptional attention to detail and demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task. A Revenue Cycle Representative will provide exceptional customer service to our external customers: patients, patient families, insurance contacts, etc.; and internal customers: graduate students; department faculty and staff. A successful candidate will utilize tools and processes to make independent decisions and maintain clinical integrity. The candidate will treat internal and external customers respectfully, including patient rights regarding privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Revenue Cycle Manager with insurance follow-up.
Analyze and verify patient demographic and insurance eligibility for accurate claim submission and reimbursement.
Claim denial management: Appeal incorrect claim payments and/or denials by working with insurance companies to obtain correct payments.
Schedule and manage patient appointments in the Epic medical record system and support management of patient waitlists.
Support wider clinic activities with providers, student clinicians, and other support personnel.
Use Epic system to track data related to billing and to identify efficiencies.
Communicate with providers, payers, professional organizations, and patients to resolve claims issues.
Interface with patients and providers, including answering and directing phone calls and emails.

Education Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications
Typically, at least six months of relevant office or administrative work experience.
Understanding of basic principles, techniques and terminology of claims processing and reimbursement.
Experience with the Epic system.
Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes, as well as appropriate modifier usage for billing and following up on AR claims.
Critical thinking and analytical skills to review accounts.
Effective communication skills.
Proficiency in data entry/translation with proven attention to detail resulting in minimal errors.
