Job Description Summary
Responsible to assist with study coordination and recruitment for investigator-initiated studies, multi-center research studies, and patient-oriented clinical and translational research projects within a specific Division, under general supervision. Works directly with study physicians, research coordinators, project managers, and other research staff. Performs screening visits, consenting of participants, processing and shipping of labs, entering data into databases, and escorting participants to other testing/procedure areas. Help advance the research mission of the Division and University.
Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Clinical Research Assistant B position is to assist senior clinical research coordinators with data collection, data entry, and specimen processing and shipping procedures for Phase IV clinical trials and observational studies. The ideal candidate for this position will have the ability to handle a variety of clinical trial related responsibilities in accordance with University of Pennsylvania, GCP, and FDA guidelines with moderate supervision.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Implement all assigned recruitment methods to ensure successful recruitment and enrollment goals are met within specified timelines
- Prepare, post, and ship or deliver recruitment materials at Penn and other identified sites
- Maintain regular communication with potential recruitment sites to remind them of study and request recruitment updates
- Assist investigators and senior clinical research coordinators with screening procedures including approaching potential participants in clinic, reviewing medical records, and asking eligibility questions
- Complete informed consent procedures with patients during standard of care clinic visits as well as during scheduled research encounters
- Initiate contact with participants to schedule visits and conduct reminder calls
- Assist coordinators with data collection procedures during study visits Escort participants to departments for study procedures
- Distribute compensation to participants and submit a e documentation to business office
- Prepare case report forms (CRFs) for study visits and obtain records required to complete CRFs if needed
- Ensure all signatures are collected and CRFs have been completed
- Enter all CRFs/data into study database in a timely and accurate manner
- Maintain CRFs and drug supply packages in participant binders
- Maintain lab website
- Update supply inventory and alert senior clinical research staff of supply needs
- Effectively communicate with other coordinators and investigators
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
H.S. Diploma or GED Required, with 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
