Job SummaryDuring the academic year, Upward Bound offers English and Language Arts Instruction for students in the Saturday College Program, which begins Saturday, October 19, 2024, and continues through Saturday, March 22, 2025, with a daily schedule of 9 am-3 pm on Saturdays.
Clayton County Upward Bound Programs is currently seeking a highly motivated, knowledgeable, creative, engaging, student-focused, experienced educator to teach our Literature & Composition Course that provides our students with the appropriate skill acquisition in writing and language arts. This course IS NOT intended for instruction ONLY in one area of language arts (i.e. Grammar, Writing, Literature, etc.), but a course that helps students strengthen their comprehension and skill development needed to be successful in areas related to the language arts based on their skill level assessments. This position requires someone who has passion, innovation, and knowledge to assist students with proper sentence structure, speaking skills through class presentations, and persuasive essay writing based on the Georgia State Content Standards while motivating and challenging high school students. We seek an instructor who can develop a strong curriculum that addresses students¿ needs, interests, abilities, and curiosities about race, class, gender, multiculturalism, and social justice issues.
ResponsibilitiesPreferred candidate holds a master's degree in English, Education, or a similar Major/ or Teaching Credential or working towards a master's degree in English, Language Arts, or a relevant Major.
Proposed Salary19/hour, $25/hour
