The successful candidate will provide counseling and referral services for potential and current students to include: available college courses and programs, step-by-step admission procedures, academic and/or practical skills expectations, course requirements, and CEI school policies.
This is a grant-funded position and is contingent upon available funding.
Typical Job Functions
Provide counseling and referral services for potential and current students to include: available college courses and programs, step-by-step admission procedures, academic and/or practical skills expectations, course requirements, and CEI school policies
Administer and interpret career and interest inventories, admissions testing, and other survey and testing programs
Assist students in employment and career-selection decisions and coordinate student enrollment with student affairs and faculty
Provide career service support including resume reviews, workshops and mock interviews
Provide backup crisis intervention, short-term counseling and referrals to community resources as needed
Stay current regarding CEI available courses of study, student policies, student fees, and available student resources
Participate in education, counseling, and student development related workshops and seminars
Meet with students on an individual basis to provide career exploration and academic counseling to enhance professional skills
Facilitate workshops on study strategies, time management and other relevant topics to promote student retention
Maintain current knowledge of community resources and refer individuals as appropriate
Serve as a liaison with other agencies within the community
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Incumbent must reside in Idaho (Currently CEI doesn't sponsor H-1B Visas
Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in Counseling, Education, Social Work with counseling emphasis or closely related field
Experience working with diverse populations under minimal supervision
Knowledge of personal/vocational counseling and current career development theories
Incumbent must reside in the State of Idaho (CEI doesn't currently sponsor H-1B visas)
Additional Desired Qualifications
Minimum of two years of experience in counseling
Minimum of two years working in a post-secondary education environment
Idaho post-secondary education policies and procedures
Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
On-site work is essential and regular predictable attendance is required. Employees may be required to work at occasional events and handle tasks outside of regular working hours.
Background Investigations:
Employment at College of Eastern Idaho will be contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation and may require a credit and/or motor vehicle background investigation depending on the position. Please refer to Policy 225: Background Checks
