The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Office of Financial Affairs manages the financial and budgetary aspects of the School. ASOD Finance has the overall responsibility for developing, planning, monitoring, and managing the personnel, non-personnel, and operating budgets of the Adams School of Dentistry.
The Accountant is responsible for managing and monitoring financial activities in Adams School of Dentistry's clinical enterprise. The range of duties includes but is not limited to, financial management and analysis, reconciliation, budgeting and projection, training and compliance, and communication with internal and external customers. This position collaborates with the accounting technician to collect and process daily deposits for the clinics, including cash, checks, ACH, credit cards, and other payments. This position serves and provides financial guidance to clinical business managers and departmental leadership and assists in the budget planning process and development of financial reports. This position plays a critical role in ensuring financial success and efficiency by managing audit compliance requirements across clinics, the Patient Accounts Department, the Dental Storeroom, and the Implant Center. This role also provides guidance to the clinics in managing purchases and is involved in budget planning and financial reporting. The Accountant is responsible for meeting deadlines, auditing accounts to ensure compliance with agency standards, and analyzing actual financial performance against the budget. The Accountant closely communicates with the Clinical Finance Manager to address updates, financial concerns, and compliance issues and provides reporting as requested by the Clinical Finance Manager.
Entry-level with Masters; or Bachelors and 0-2 yrs experience
Must have the demonstrated ability to manage multiple shifting priorities while meeting and exceeding deadlines. Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate and present financial information to faculty, staff, and clinical business managers. Must have knowledge of and experience with accounting policies and procedures. Must have the ability to independently prepare, disseminate, and interpret financial reports.
Demonstrated knowledge of PeopleSoft, InfoPorte, and EPIC or similar Enterprise Resources Planning software. Previous experience working in higher education. Experience with clinical finance accounting and cash management. Previous experience with cash handling.
