Purpose: The Deposit Operations Specialist is responsible for assisting the Deposit Operations Department including the Electronic Banking Department & Lockbox Department with support and coverage in exception item processing, research and adjustments to accounts, reporting adjustments to the Federal Reserve, electronic processing of Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions and reporting through National Automated Clearinghouse Association (NACHA), wire transfers, lockbox processing, data maintenance, balancing of department General Ledger accounts and funds movement processes. This position also completes online deposit & time account transactions, account closings, and account monitoring.
Essential Functions:
Fully back up and support all positions within the Deposit Operations department, including Electronic Banking and Lockbox departments
Assists in daily department workflow to ensure tasks are completed timely, accurately & per policy/procedure.
Provides support to Retail Bank staff and the Customer Contact Center, responding to customer service inquiries regarding deposit operation issues.
Processes research requests from the Retail Branch, the Federal Reserve Bank, or other financial institutions, regarding customer account discrepancies, and submits the required adjustments utilizing Federal Reserve and banking software.
Responds to customer requests for account documentation such as bank statements and check images.
Reviews the unposted transaction report to perform research on unposted transactions and applies the appropriate corrections to allow for the reprocessing of rejected ACH items.
Prepares the file for the NY Clearing House which includes the processing of ACH returns & NOC utilizing banking software.
Process Lock Box transactions
Monitors the monthly query for money market and savings customer accounts for excess debit transactions and notifies customers if applicable.
Process online transactions and / or review online transactions for demand, time, safe deposit box accounts
Performs abandoned property process, ensuring accounts are properly reported to NYS.

Job Related Qualifications – Education and Prior Experience:
Required:
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Prior Experience: 1+ years of experience in Data Entry or Customers Service
Competencies:
Possess strong keying skills with a high level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines
Dependable in meeting attendance requirements and schedules established for the department
Responds to requests for information in a timely and professional manner
Working knowledge of Microsoft applications with the ability to learn new and existing Banking software
Physical Requirements:
Able to regularly sit for prolonged periods of time.
Able to regularly stand for prolonged periods of time.
Extensive computer usage is required.
