Stamping Tool and Die Designer Summary:



The Stamping Tool and Die Designer will support the Cretex Stamping business line and be the subject matter expert (SME) responsible for tooling and fixture designs to be used in prototype and production, through the application of stamping design fundamentals, sound engineering, applied research, and design for manufacture (DFM) principles. This role will use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to design the tools and equipment needed for progressive die stamping, as well as designing the fixtures required for related activities. Will work with the cross-functional engineering team, internal and external customers, and vendors to ensure the designs meet industry best practices, follow internal procedures, and deliver on our commitments to customers.

Responsibilities




Stamping Tool and Die Designer Responsibilities:

• Conceptual engineering for new tool and die designs - ability to see the solution by reviewing the part CAD model and drawing and lay out the tool using the CAD software
• Utilize SolidWorks CAD software to design simple-to-complex progressive dies and related fixtures.
• Perform Design for Manufacture (DFM) review of customer component designs and/or supplied die designs, identify project risks, and provide engineering solutions
• Utilize CAE systems such as Stampack for die stamping simulation and iteration to optimize customer component and die designs
• Collaborate with Design Engineering and the New Product Development (NPD)/New Product Introduction (NPI) project teams, following the Staged Gate Development Process in compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS)
• Create and maintain tool component models and drawings for tool construction in-house and/or with external suppliers
• Create and maintain fixture component models and drawings for construction in-house and/or with external suppliers
• Accountable to the function of the tooling manufactured to their design
• Be innovative using the latest methods, strategies, and technologies available
• Work according to a pre-defined schedule with an ability to flex efforts to meet project milestones
• Design in compliance with pre-defined build specifications, leveraging personal know-how, industry standard practices, and inputs from SME's
• Work in a project team environment with cross-functional engineering team led by the project leader

Qualifications




Stamping Tool and Die Designer Qualifications:

• Associates Degree in mechanical design, a technical or engineering related field, or equivalent experience designing high speed stamping tooling
• A minimum of 4+ years' proven experience designing stamping tooling
• Proficient in SolidWorks for stamping design
• Very strong analytical and trouble shooting skills
• Knowledge of progressive die stamping tooling design and construction, including appropriate selection of tool steels and other construction materials
• Ability to work under pressure as an individual contributor, while being led in a team environment
• Functional understanding of the progressive die stamping manufacturing process and principles
• A demonstrated ability to effectively make decisions, set clear measurable and aggressive objectives for projects and programs, break complex problems into manageable tasks, and define end dates to meet deadlines
• Possesses advanced verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and team building skills to create effective working relationships with suppliers, customers and co-workers

Stamping Tool and Die Designer Preferred Qualifications:

• Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
• Prior experience in part CAD design for stamping applications
• Stampack experience, or similar CAE software experience
• PDM data storage vault experience
• Knowledge of Medical Manufacturing Industry, and ISO 13485
• Prior CNC machining/toolmaker experience

Physical & Environmental Demands:



Cretex Companies use cutting oils, solvents, and other chemicals in the manufacturing process. Testing is conducted on a periodic basis to ensure that all chemicals are kept well below the OSHA permissible exposure levels.

Pay Range

USD $73,600.00 - USD $92,000.00 /Yr.Company Benefits
