Job Description:
The Aeronautics Division at the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) has an exciting internship opportunity for a college student pursuing a degree in Aviation! If you are interested in hands-on, real-world aviation experience in a supportive and collaborative team environment, apply today!
Job Duties
Assist the engineering team with grant management for both state and federally funded airport improvement projects.
Conduct physical inspection of the airport including collecting rough survey data, calculates obstructions, prepares reports, and communicates with local officials.
Complete Airport DBE program updates and reporting.
Input data into a new airport management system.
Provide assistance to the Engineering Division team as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: Must be a three-fourths student in good standing majoring in a discipline or field related to the work to be assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
Successful completion of a minimum of 2 years in an undergraduate degree program. Typical programs will include Air Transport Administration, Aviation Systems Management, and Aviation Management.
Private pilot's license.
Experience with database management and geographical information systems management.
Other: Applicants must be at least a three fourths time student and be able to work at least 8 hours a week when classes are in session.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to:
Read and understand construction plans, layout plans, and property maps.
Determine compliance with standards using survey data, simple math, and geometry.
Conduct airport inspections at public-use airports in Nebraska.
Organize and track workflow and data.
Communicate effectively, written or verbal, to a wide variety of people.
