The Norfolk Regional Center is Phase I of the Nebraska Sex Offender Treatment Program. The Sex Offender Treatment Program is for patients who have completed their criminal sentence but have been deemed at high risk to sexually re-offend if outside an inpatient treatment facility.



Job duties:



The Response Team Member provides additional security and safety to the


environment. Response Team Members will serve as an emergency responder in emergencies and alarms.


The essential duties of the Response Team Member are:


  • Monitor the safety and security of assigned areas.

  • Monitor the environment for compliance with safety and security policies/procedures.

  • Supports Nursing Services in achieving crisis resolution.

  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies or crises and may intervene in verbal disputes and provide physical intervention that includes restraining individuals utilizing the hospital-approved crisis intervention model.

  • Adhere to rules and regulations governing the conduct of aggressive situations and patient status.

  • Complete patient and building searches.

  • Escort individuals to appointments and activities inside or outside the facility.

  • Prepare summary documentation concerning patient behavior, shift activity, and action taken.




Qualifications/Requirements:




Minimum Qualifications: Be at least 19 years of age to work with adult client populations.



Preferred Qualifications: One or more years of education or experience in human services or military services, where the candidate works directly or indirectly with others and experience with behavioral interventional programs, crisis intervention and de-escalation. Working with a diverse population.



Hiring rate of position



$26.520/per hour plus shift differential



Hours:



1st/2nd shift rotation (6:45 a.m. - 3:15 p.m./2:45 p.m. - 11:15 p.m.). Shifts includes weekends and holidays. Must be able to work every other weekend.



Knowledge of: security measures required in the care of criminal and dangerously insane patients; techniques of caring for physically and/or mentally ill patients; human behavior and performance; principles and methods for instructing individuals and groups. Skill in: listening and understanding; communicating effectively as appropriate for the intended audience; teaching others how to do something.



Ability to: give leadership to lesser-experienced workers; interpret and follow all facility/ward instructions; prepare reports; carry out nursing procedures as prescribed; make decisions and act quickly in situations involving patient care or safety; communicate with co-workers, management and patients; lift, push, pull or bend to assist clients in meeting their needs and maintaining safety within the facility/ward.
