The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine seeks applicants for the position of Lecturer in Large Animal Reproduction in the Department of Clinical Studies - New Bolton Center, starting March 1, 2025, or thereafter as soon as a successful candidate is identified. This is anticipated to be a one-year position.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The position involves providing in-house large animal reproductive services at the Hofmann Center for Reproduction and Widener Hospital, with responsibilities including participation in after-hours emergency reproductive coverage at Widener Hospital. Additionally, the candidate will engage in the academic program of the Section of Reproduction and Behavior, contributing to the teaching of veterinary students, interns, and residents through both didactic lectures and laboratory sessions. This role combines clinical practice with a strong commitment to education and mentorship in large animal reproduction.
BENEFITS: A full-time benefit package will be offered, including 22 days of vacation per year and aid for attending one professional meeting. If desired, off-clinic time as available may be granted to pursue a clinical research project.
New Bolton Center is located in a rural setting in scenic Pennsylvania Hunt Country, 35 miles southwest of the main University Campus in Philadelphia. The reproduction patient population is predominantly equine, with stallion, mare and pregnant mare cases. The bovine and small ruminant caseload is predominantly pregnant animals and dystocia, and is done in concert with the Medicine and Surgery services of the hospital.
Requirements include a VMD/DVM/equivalent degree and board certification in the American College of Theriogenologists or eligibility to sit the examination. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
