Position Summary



As a member of the professional staff, contributes a high level of specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support department and/or function objectives. Generally, works with considerable independence, developing operating plans and related operational processes for own department and monitoring the flow of work between own department and others in alignment with broader business objectives, selecting and developing effective managers and work teams, and managing own organization through reliable systems and processes.


Job Summary


The AVP, Facilities is a strategic business leader and critical contributor to the effective execution of room operations planning & support reporting to the VP of HVO Resort Operations. He/she provides three areas of primary value; engineering technical and consulting expertise within the Engineering Operations function; strategic planning for resort projects; project oversight of significantly complex or risk-oriented resort projects. The incumbent evaluates risks and works within areas of expertise to provide effective solutions. The AVP, Facilities works in a complex matrix environment and balances the sometimes-diverging expectations of the site, the brand, and the Engineering operations discipline.


Expected Contributions



  • Provide strategic direction to General Managers and their engineering teams, as well as Vice President, HVO Resort Operations.

  • Drive engineering operational excellence through effective collaboration and alignment with corporate business, corporate engineering and brand strategies.

  • Manage strategic reserve program oversight, coordinating with stakeholders at individual properties, corporate support, and the overall corporate reserve program.

  • Ensure effective project planning, execution and delivery of results of projects within the region.

  • Identify and develop talent to drive success in engineering and related fields.

  • Utilize engineering expertise to enhance customer satisfaction levels.

  • Maximize the financial performance of our sites through strategic engineering initiatives.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and innovative solutions.

  • Stay informed about industry trends and developments, incorporating this knowledge into our engineering strategies.

  • Prepare reports and provide recommendations to senior leadership.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence within the engineering teams.

  • Perform other duties related to engineering and leadership as assigned.

  • Develops operating plans and workable business processes for own department in alignment with function strategy.

  • Manages larger business processes and/or projects, setting priorities and measurable objectives, monitoring, and reporting on the process, progress, and results. Typically influences work of cross-functional or extended teams.

  • Responds to, solves, and makes decisions on business requests that have broader department impact and/or moderate risk. Presents alternative solutions to business issues by leveraging the broader organization.

  • Works to enhance the organization's capabilities through effective staffing and development of others by:

    • anticipating staffing requirements by comparing business needs with strengths and weaknesses of existing staff.

    • using appropriate MVW interviewing tools to hire the best managers available from inside or outside.

    • setting and maintaining high standards for team and individual performance.

    • providing timely coaching and feedback.

    • making and rewarding distinctions in performance.



  • Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by:

Candidate Profile



Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows: Generally, a professional position requiring significant knowledge and experience in one or more disciplines and/or business operations as well as associate management experience. College degree and/or relevant experience generally required.


Education/Certification



  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.


Experience



  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive engineering experience and or project management, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.


Skills & Attributes



  • Strong knowledge of timeshare industry standards, regulations, and best practices.

  • Understanding of engineering SOPs.

  • Knowledge of ADA, OSHA, and environmental requirements of EPA and regional regulatory compliance.

  • Knowledge of ASGARD preferred.

  • Strong project management, organizational, and financial skills.

  • Excellent project management skills with a proven track record of successful project execution.

  • Proven track record in the development and execution of business plans.

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results through others or provide coaching and hands-on support; demonstrated ability to create an accountability system to drive results.

  • Ability to work in collaborative cross-functional team environment.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement long-term engineering plans.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Adept at managing a geographically dispersed team and collaborating across cultures.

  • Proficient in utilizing engineering software and tools.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability in a rapidly changing environment.


  • Willingness to travel at least 50% of the time, as needed for site visits and global coordination.
