We are seeking a Senior Human Resources Manager with law firm experience to lead HR functions in our San Francisco office. The Senior HR Manager will be responsible for talent acquisition, employee relations, coordinating schedules and utilization, performance management, compliance, and professional development programs while fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture.
The successful candidate will be able to execute, interpret, and implement local, California, and Federal labor laws, have strong organizational skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills. The candidate should feel comfortable interfacing with individuals daily and be able to foster collegial relationships, as well as possess the ability to have difficult conversations. The candidate should be experienced in managing personnel at a law firm.
Primary Responsibilities
Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the firm's human resource and talent strategy.
Act as a trusted advisor to firm leadership on all HR-related matters.
Lead employee relations efforts, including conflict resolution, performance management, and disciplinary actions, ensuring compliance with employment laws and firm policies.
Manage talent acquisition process including recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding.
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and recommended best practices.
Manage non-attorney personnel and coordinate schedules and utilization.
Approve timesheets and PTO requests.
Process employee status changes, including leaves of absence and separations.
Facilitate health and welfare programs administered by the firmwide benefits team.
Maintain personnel records.
Oversee local HR budget.
Process annual memberships to local, California and American Bar.
Facilitate diversity and inclusion events and communications.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualifications
Minimum of ten years' experience as a Human Resources Manager in a law firm
Bachelor's degree required
PHR, PHRca, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification strongly desired
Strong knowledge of local, California and Federal employment laws and regulations
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Pro, document management systems, and HRIS systems
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

California Pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on skillset and experience, is $170k - $195k.
