Salary/Position Classification


  • $15.00 Hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)

  • 8-15 hours per week

  • 100% Remote Work Availability: No

  • Hybrid Work Availability: No


Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.


The Combs Lab is seeking an undergraduate student researcher to join a collaborative team working on various projects.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with designing and performing experiments

  • Set up experiments

  • Data acquisition

  • Conduct literature reviews

  • Input and manage data in databases or spreadsheets

  • Analyze data using statistical software or other tools

  • Prepare graphs, charts, and other visual representations of data

  • Draft sections of research reports, articles, presentations or posters

  • Attend and participate in research team meetings

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of research activities

  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards and protocols

  • Manage and organize research materials and equipment

  • Perform other administrative tasks as needed to support the research project as needed

Minimum Requirements

  • Successful completion of General Biology and General Chemistry

  • Interest in working for at least 1 academic year

  • Previous experience working in a research lab

  • Undergraduate student at UND

  • Majoring in a science field

  • At least 1 calendar year of coursework remaining before graduation

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with research tools and software, such as statistical analysis programs, database management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, perform statistical analysis, and draw meaningful conclusions from research findings.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
