Buena Vista University is seeking an experienced Director of Finance and Administration/Controller to oversee the university's financial operations ensuring fiscal integrity and efficiency. This role serves as a strategic advisor to the Vice President for Finance and Administration and provides leadership for the Business Office and the Office of Financial Assistance. The Director of Finance and Administration/Controller will be at the forefront of financial planning, compliance, budgeting, and reporting to advance the institution's goals.
Primary Responsibilities:
Direct and maintain the University's financial affairs, including compliance with federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations.
Prepare, analyze, and present financial reports to senior management.
Manage budgeting processes, financial forecasting, and operational performance evaluations.
Develop and enforce internal controls and auditing protocols to safeguard University assets.
Oversee the Business Office and Office of Financial Assistance, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
Lead the development of residential housing cost plans for various on-campus housing options.
Provide financial advice to institutional leadership, supporting resource allocation, cost management, and project management.
Supervise and mentor a team of financial professionals, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and productive work environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required. Master's degree or CPA certification preferred.
3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in financial management, ideally in higher education.
Proven expertise in accounting, budgeting, cost management, and financial analysis.
Experience with manual and automated accounting systems.
