About the Role

Working under minimal supervision, the Risk Manager will oversee The Huntington's insurance program and provide risk management support to the institution under the supervision of the Legal Counsel. With considerable autonomy, the Risk Manager will manage the insurance renewal process, serve as the key liaison between the institution and its brokers, review insurance provisions in contracts and related certificates of insurance, support the institution through the claims process, and provide guidance on risk mitigation measures. The Risk Manager will frequently interact with all levels of staff and leadership and will report to the Legal Counsel.

Essential Duties

The Risk Manager will be responsible for daily management of the institution's insurance policies and claims process, broker communications, advising staff on risk mitigation and risk management measures in connection with institutional programming, daily operations and large-scale projects across all departments, and reviewing insurance provisions in contracts and certificates of insurance.

More specifically, the Risk Manager will:

Work closely with the institution's insurance brokers and senior management to select adequate insurance programs and coverage.
Prepare documents, applications and reports for annual insurance renewals, including presentations to the Audit Committee.
Advise on and coordinate additional insurance coverage as needed, such as Builders Risk Insurance.
Review incident reports and coordinate with and report applicable incidents to brokers, including managing any required investigations, initiated and ongoing claims and all required follow up.
Coordinate requests for broker input on managing liability and insurance requirements in contracts.
Review third party certificates of insurance.
Work with all departments in collaboration with the Legal Counsel to track, record, and verify implementation of risk management and risk mitigation measures.
Play an integral role in the development and oversight of policies and procedures to address institutional-wide risk management and risk mitigation.
Work with staff and the Legal Counsel to develop releases and waivers as appropriate for institutional programming.
May perform other related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Ability to sit in an office setting for long periods of time with periodic walks around the campus to meet with departments, evaluate and assess risk, and review the implementation of adopted procedures and steps in response to risk management measures.

Candidate Requirements and Experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Bachelor's Degree or higher.
At least 3-5 years in a risk management role.
Knowledge of insurance policies, including General Liability, Property, Workers' Compensation, Cyber/Privacy, D&O, Fine Arts (preferred), and excess/umbrella policies.
Exercise prior experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals in an efficient manner.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Interpersonal skills to interact with all employees, senior leadership, and visitors of The Huntington.
Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple tasks to meet all deadlines, including urgent deadlines.
Ability to understand an issue and take initiative to collaborate and develop actions and measures to address it.
Ability to work proactively, independently and efficiently.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (including Word and Excel), the Internet, and other commonly used applications (e.g., DocuSign, PowerPoint, and Adobe).
Professional judgment and ability to handle sensitive and confidential communications.
