Description: Our client is currently seeking a Sr Utilities/Refrigeration Manager in Sioux City, Iowa for a food manufacturing companyoverseeing the maintenance of a 975,000-square-foot animal protein production facility. This role includes management of a 195,000-pound ammonia refrigeration system, a 32-million-gallon wastewater treatment facility, rendering operations, and steam generation processes. The position ensures efficient and compliant management of utilities such as thermal energy, refrigeration, compressed air, hazardous gases, wastewater, steam, electrical, water, natural gas, HVAC, and ammonia systems.



Salary-$130,000 to $150,000 plus bonus




Full Relocation Provided to the Sioux City, Iowa area

• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to utilities, rendering, and wastewater processes.


• Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize productivity, efficiency, and quality in all managed areas.


• Oversee the operation and maintenance of ammonia refrigeration systems, boilers/steam generation systems, and plant utilities.


• Monitor rendering equipment performance to ensure optimal functionality and minimize downtime.


• Recruit, onboard, train, and develop team members across all levels of utility, refrigeration, rendering, and wastewater operations.


• Ensure alignment with OSHA and Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) standards, working collaboratively with FSQA teams to address and report maintenance needs.


• Promote a strong safety culture, providing ongoing training and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations to minimize work-related accidents.


• Build a high-performing team through talent development, training, and succession planning to support growth and expansion.


• Drive a culture of continuous improvement by implementing efficiencies, improving accuracy, and strengthening decision-making processes.


• Collaborate with the leadership team to provide strategic direction and contribute to business planning.


• Analyze and address downtime causes, develop strategies to improve reliability and safety, and enhance plant performance.


• Establish and implement organizational goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications



Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.


• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in manufacturing, including supervisory roles.


• Experience in food manufacturing preferred.


• Formal ammonia refrigeration training and certifications preferred.


• Familiarity with boiler and cooling tower chemical treatment programs.


• Proven experience in capital funding request development and leading capital projects.
