Description:
Role Overview: The PLC Technician is tasked with overseeing, managing, and completing projects related to programmable logic controls (PLC) and human-machine interfaces (HMI). This role requires a professional with in-depth technical knowledge, project management skills, and a commitment to quality and customer service. The technician should be dedicated to continuous improvement and effective communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair faulty equipment using test equipment or software, applying knowledge of electronic systems.
- Inspect industrial equipment components for proper assembly and installation, referencing blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
- Install repaired equipment in various settings.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment and HMI control devices.
- Utilize and maintain electrical software programs.
- Collaborate with the corporate IT department on data transfer and reporting needs.
- Provide technical expertise in automation and systems to team members.
- Train peers, team members, and maintenance personnel, providing job aids, SOPs, and written instructions.
- Install and maintain inverter control packages.
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain communication networks (fiber and copper).
- Respond to emergency call-ins outside of regular work hours.
- Deliver professional service and continuously improve existing systems and new projects.
- Work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Adhere to safety, food safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.
- Report safety, food safety, and quality issues to authorized personnel.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Two years of experience in developing, installing, and troubleshooting PLC, HMI, and motor control systems.
- Specialized training in PLC and machine control.
- Proficiency in ladder logic, function block diagrams, statement lists, file structure, and program organization.
- Ability to document instructions, rungs, and sections.
- Knowledge of functional requirements specifications.
- HMI expertise, including object types, screen layouts, animations, alarms, and scripting.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, and IEC codes.
- Strong diagnostic and analytical skills.
- Ability to read and understand electrical control and mechanical part drawings.
- Flexibility to work varying hours to meet project deadlines.
