Job Summary:
The Activities Assistant will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of activities for our residents/participants. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with diverse groups and has a creative approach to engaging others in activities that enhance their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and organizing daily activities for residents/participants, including arts and crafts, games, fitness sessions, outings, and more.
- Lead or co-lead group activities, ensuring participation and fostering a fun, positive atmosphere.
- Maintain records of participants' attendance, preferences, and progress.
- Provide one-on-one or small group activities for individuals with specific needs or preferences.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of participants during activities.
- Collaborate with other team members to create a cohesive and supportive activity schedule.
- Set up and clean up after activities, ensuring all materials and equipment are properly stored.
- Support special events and celebrations as needed.
- Promote a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment where participants feel valued and engaged.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in activities, recreation, or social services is preferred but not required.
- A compassionate, patient, and engaging personality with a genuine interest in working with people.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Creative and proactive approach to engaging participants in activities.
- Basic understanding of group dynamics and how to engage individuals with diverse needs.
- Ability to lift and move items necessary for activities (up to (insert weight) lbs).
