The SHRM Foundation is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit arm of the world's largest HR professional society, SHRM. The SHRM Foundation mobilizes and equips HR professionals to lead positive social change so that all talent and workplaces can prosper and thrive. The Foundation’s work is organized in three main pools:
1) Widening pathways to work for all, including particularly those without a degree and untapped pools of talent such as people with disabilities, justice-impacted individuals, and military connected people;
2) Strengthening and diversifying the HR field, including through scholarships, grants, awards, mentorship, fellowship, and mental health support; and
3) Helping employers understand and create the conditions that comprehensively support their workforce by creating mentally healthy environments, ensuring job quality, and addressing wrap-around social barriers that make it harder for employers and employees to thrive together.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Program Manager, Thriving Together (PM), is a dynamic and proven leader who executes the strategy, administers, and evaluates SHRM Foundation’s programming through innovation, collaboration, and project impact. The PM is responsible for overall project and program management, ensuring the quality and achievement of intended impact within the portion of the Foundation’s Thriving Together portfolio having to do with mental health, health equity, and caregiving.
The overall Thriving Together portfolio centers on mobilizing and equipping HR professionals and other people leaders to understand and create conditions that comprehensively support their workforces so that employers and employees can thrive together. An emerging portfolio, Thriving Together encompasses the Foundation’s work in 4 areas, all aligned with a broad definition of creating a culture of health that leads to mutual well-being and success for the worker and the workplace: social drivers of health, job quality, mental health, and support for working caregivers.
The PM is responsible for creating partnerships, tools, trainings, and convenings that increase knowledge, engagement, and change among employers that progresses towards the end vision: a world of work in which all talent are holistically supported and both employers and employees can thrive together.
Responsibilities:
• Manages the work for a series of related programs and grants managing budgets, monitoring expenditure and tracking results.
• Responsible for preparing progress reports, compliance, and maintaining records related to grant-funded programs.
• Provides ongoing oversight, ensuring quality control and consistency of participation and evaluation of program initiatives and components.
• Leads research, tool and training development, pilots, decisionmaker education efforts, and communications efforts related to skills-first hiring and advancement, apprenticeship and other earn-and-learn models, skills validation, social capital, and other key related topics.
• Manages multiple projects and working groups simultaneously for all assigned programs.
• Collaborates with SHRM research and SHRM product development and certification teams to develop and maintain program products as appropriate.
• Develops annual and monthly operational plans to monitor and ensure SHRM Foundation’s strategic plan objectives are met and exceeded.
• Serves as a liaison to marketing, accounting, and other relevant departments in managing program communications and budgets and developing and overseeing contracts.
• Actively collaborates with the SHRM Foundation Engagement and Philanthropy team to develop donor solicitation ideas and proposals, participate in donor meetings, and track the fulfillment of donor commitments related to germane programs and initiatives within the portfolio.
• Manages germane vendor relationships.
• Represents SHRM Foundation’s efforts linked to this portfolio with public relations, communications, and marketing activities.
• Engages with SHRM Membership and Government Affairs departments related to this portfolio to ensure alignment, coordination of efforts, and identification of opportunities to leverage the work of the SHRM Foundation.
• May be assigned to other initiatives and programs as necessary.
Position Requirements
• A knowledge of and background in workplace-related efforts to address mental health, social drivers/wrap around needs, job quality, and/or workplace caregiver support. Preferred knowledge of the employer-side challenges and opportunities in this space.
• At least eight (8) years of progressive program and leadership experience, preferably within the non-profit space. Specific focus on programming, communications and public relations, and project management of products, events/convenings, and research/evaluation projects.
• Demonstrate aptitude in written and verbal communications, program/project ideation and management, coalition/community of practice creation and facilitation, budget development and assessment, funder/investor relations, and people management.
• Preferred knowledge of the HR field; formal/professional knowledge of talent management space; and an understanding of broader processes for creating employer-inclusive movements and managing change.
• Experience in volunteer, board member, and donor management.
Certifications
• None required.

• Demonstrate a specific aptitude around landscape research and analysis; complex project management; philanthropic and CSR/ESG-related activities; and program articulation, development, and assessment.
• Ability to articulate overarching strategy and manage multiple projects; an eye for detail paired with an appreciation and understanding of the bigger picture.
• Outstanding sponsor/donor/investor, partner, and peer collaboration and negotiation skills.
• Ability to speak to CEOs, practitioners, and everyone in between confidently and competently. Ability to position new ideas and ways of doing business that inspire and excite stakeholders.
• Highly proficient at working cross-functionally and collaboratively across departments and with separate partners and stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational planning, presentation, and professional writing skills in English.
Other Requirements
• Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.
• Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment. Ability to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; extensive meetings and presentations; solid literacy and numeracy.
• This position will be based in SHRM’s Alexandria, VA offices, and must be able to work in-person Tuesday through Thursday each week. SHRM Foundation maintains core working hours of 10am-3pm each day; a standard in-person schedule, articulated with and approved by a supervisor, must revolve around those times.
• Travel required 20%-30% of time for site visits, conference and convening attendance, funder cultivation, and research.

The hiring range for this position is $98,000 to $110,000 per year. This range is an estimate and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
