The Cardiovascular Health Tech Laboratory in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a Research Associate position. The position is to conduct research studies on patients at the nearby UPMC Presbyterian Hospital and specifically to ensure the collection of high-quality patient databases of physiological and clinical measurements for cardiovascular monitoring technology development. The position will include co-authoring scientific papers and conducting technology development research. Successful applicants will have strong general knowledge in bioengineering, preferably a PhD degree, and specific knowledge in biosignals, medical devices, and patient studies. The position will begin in the Spring of 2025 with an initial appointment of one year. Two yearly renewal appointments are anticipated upon satisfactory research progress in the previous year. Applications should include a letter of interest addressing skills and experience and a current CV.
Duties include:
*Build patient databases from studies at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital including creating data acquisition systems for collecting physiological measurements, attending all patient studies and annotating each study, extracting clinical data from the electronic health record, organizing and archiving the collected data, and debugging the database formation pipeline
*Work with clinicians and clinical research coordinators to perform the patient studies
*Give regular updates on patient study progress through slide decks and emails
*Contribute to the writing of scientific papers, especially the patient data collection sections
*Conduct technology development research as time permits
Requirements:
*PhD degree in Bioengineering or Biomedical Engineering
*Strong knowledge of biosignals, medical devices, and patient studies
*Experience in patient studies to collect physiological measurements
*Effective oral and written communication skills
