JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Cancer Registry- Report cancer cases as required by state and national law. Produce slides, reports, and other materials for
presentation to local, state, national and international clinical, research, or professional groups. Review reports from the
Division of Pathology monthly to ensure compliance with ACOS/CAP standards. Maintain and annually update the Cancer
Registry manual, as assigned. Accurately review admissions, deaths, new cancer patients and other volume indicators to
report to CBDI Leadership as requested.


Data Management- Abstract and enter all cancer cases for patients seen at Cincinnati Children's within local and ACOS
guidelines. Maintain long-term follow up information for patient cases for required period of time. Perform basic data searches
for research and service line initiatives. Contribute to a minimum of two patient care studies each year with comparisons to
national or international data to evaluate treatment and survival outcome. Responsible for the real-time abstraction of
additional data parameters in miscellaneous oncology databases to supplement the cancer registry database, working closely
with CBDI Application Specialists for enhancements and troubleshooting. Regularly attend patient review meetings, tumor
boards, and oncology grand rounds to gather and/or report information.


Program Support- Work closely with physicians, hospital administrators, and health care practitioners to maintain ongoing
records of the cancer patient's history diagnosis, treatment, and outcome. Assist in maintaining an accredited cancer program
by the Commission of Cancer of the American College of Surgeons through a physician survey every three years. Assist with
cancer committee activities. Coordinate accurate and timely staging of all applicable cancer cases using current staging
standards. Maintain currency in the field of Cancer Registry through continuing education and seminars.


Resource- Serve as internal resource for colleagues, provide guidance, training, mentorship and supervision for other registry
staff.
