In 2022, SSM Health assumed ownership of SLUCare from Saint Louis University, which formally brought together the world-class academic medical expertise of SLUCare with SSM Health's high-quality, community-based care model to create one of the most comprehensive, fully integrated academic and community-based physician groups in the region with more than 1,200 physicians.
The Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs is a critical leadership role focused on further enhancing the partnership between SSM Health and SLUSOM. The Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs will be supporting, and executing initiatives that drive efficiency, effectiveness, and build high performing academic departments and clinical services. In addition, this leader will support the growth and advancement of clinical care, medical training, education, and research across the St. Louis region.
Serving as the Chief Academic Officer for the SSM St. Louis Region, the Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs will lead and support clinical department chairs in the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans while serving as the key liaison between SSM Health and Saint Louis University to ensure optimal learning environments for UME and GME and effective clinical research growth.
The ideal VDCA candidate will be a servant leader, comfortable driving change through influence in a large, bringing prior experience also working in a community-based practice setting and/or a large, highly matrixed health system.
Our client seeks a physician leader (MD/DO) with at least 8 years of leadership experience within an Academic Medical Center (either as a Clinical Division/Department Chief/Chair and/or a health system administrator). Academic ranking of at least an Associate Professor is highly preferred. A Missouri medical license, or the ability to obtain one will be necessary.
