As a skilled and dynamic Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and managing containerized applications for the development, deployment, and orchestration of containerized solutions supporting the Civilian Harm Mitigation and Response (CHMR), Data Management Platform (DMP). The CHMR DMP is a new initiative supporting Headquarters Department of the Army (HQDA), Department of the Army's Management Office-Strategic Operations (DAMO-SO). The DMP is being developed as a system-of-systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of the DMP.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and Development:
    Design and develop containerized applications using Docker and related container technologies.
  • Container Management:
    Build, configure, and maintain Docker containers, ensuring high performance and efficient use of resources across environments.
  • Automation and CI/CD:
    Develop automated workflows for containerization and continuous deployment pipelines using Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar.
  • Orchestration:
    Work with Kubernetes and other orchestration platforms to manage and scale containerized applications, ensuring resilience and fault tolerance.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
    Monitor the performance, health, and scalability of Docker-based environments and troubleshoot containerized applications to ensure operational stability.
  • Collaboration and Support:
    Work with DevOps and system administration teams to define infrastructure requirements, provide support for container-based environments, and troubleshoot deployment issues.
  • Documentation and Best Practices:
    Create and maintain clear documentation for containerized application development, best practices, and deployment strategies.
  • Security and Compliance:
    Ensure that containers are built with security best practices, conduct vulnerability assessments, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

This role will be performed 80% remote with 20% onsite. But subject to change to meet customer's needs.

Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3-10 years of hands-on experience with Docker and containerization.
  • Experience working with Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, or similar container orchestration platforms.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their containerization services.
  • Experience with automated deployment tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
  • Strong proficiency in Docker image creation, container orchestration, and container management.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and how it integrates with containerization.
  • Understanding of network and security concepts related to containerized environments.
  • Experience working with interconnected applications and APIs.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and debugging skills.
  • Ability to work in an agile, collaborative team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Active US Government Clearance at Secret level or higher
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills required for collaboration with both customers and fellow team members
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Security+ certification
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to regularly lift at least 25 pounds.
  • Ability to commute to the designated onsite work location as required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with container registry services (e.g., Docker Hub, Amazon ECR).
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation).
  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline development and automation.
  • Familiar with Tactical connectivity challenges and tactical edge applications
  • Working knowledge of DoD mission partners
  • Advanced degree

Certifications (Preferred): Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP); Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
