Position: Senior Data Scientist
Job Location: 680 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086
Duties: Use advanced statistical models to build analysis and interpretation of modeling outputs for business stakeholders. Train and deploy large scale machine learning and deep learning models, tailored to improve customer experience and recommendations in online shopping. Train and deploy large language models (LLMs) and deep image-based models for complex feature extraction across hundreds of millions of items used for improving recommendations in online marketplaces. Build continuous feedback systems using sophisticated online learning models and reinforcement learning problems to improve ranking of recommendations and display Ads for external Ads partners. Implement large scale graphical models (such as GNN) to model and form connections among the vast item spaces to address ubiquitous problems such as cold start in product recommendation. Build and deploy large scale embedding based modelling and inferencing systems (ANN and Two-tower model, etc.) that can be used for serving real-time customer experiences without compromising website performance.
Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (any), or related field and 1 year of experience in an analytics related field; OR Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (any), or related field and 3 years of experience in an analytics related field.
Skills required: Experience with object-oriented language Python and deep learning frameworks Pytorch and Tensorflow. Experience designing large scale database management systems including SQL, Hive, Hadoop, and Apache Spark. Experience developing deep learning models on cloud platforms including Google Cloud and Azure. Experience with statistics, numerical linear algebra, and convex/non-convex optimization. Experience building full-cycle GNN, Transformers, and LSTM-based recommender systems on large-scale datasets. Experience implementing parametric and non-parametric statistical algorithms. Experience driving end-to-end product management for key business metrics including traffic and gross merchandise value. Experience conducting hypothesis testing on deployed models and products. Experience analyzing industry level data and working within the data-driven decision-making process. Experience with production-grade development with unit testing and code control tools including Pytest, Flake8, and SonarQube. Employer will accept any amount of graduate coursework, graduate research experience or professional experience with the required skills.
Salary Range: $138,911/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
