Employment Type: Direct Hire

Pay: $135,000 - $150,000

Location: Fayetteville, AR | Onsite with minimal travel (0-5%)

Travel: Mileage reimbursement and a monthly car allowance provided

Position Overview:

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a skilled Business Unit Manager for a client in Fayetteville, AR. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and oversee the daily operations of the business unit, ensuring alignment with the organization's vision. This role requires extensive experience in managing commercial Plumbing/HVAC projects, financial oversight, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Office Leadership: Manage the entire office team, including Operations Manager, Project Managers, General Superintendents, Superintendents, and Foremen. Hold full financial responsibility for the office and its projects.
  • Market Development: Lead local market strategies and build long-term relationships with key stakeholders such as owners, architects, consultants, and contractors to secure new opportunities.
  • Business Strategy: Implement strategic plans that align with business objectives and drive profitability.
  • Business Development: Work with Corporate Business Development and Preconstruction Teams on estimates, bid strategy, contract negotiations, and coordinate with General Counsel for contract approvals.
  • Client Relations: Ensure high customer satisfaction by managing client relationships, vendor partnerships, and subcontractor agreements, including coordinating new relationship and bonding approvals.
  • Community Engagement: Actively participate in local and regional trade associations and promote networking.
  • Productivity Improvements: Partner with Operations Managers and General Superintendents to enhance productivity and ensure project quality.
  • Team Management: Oversee labor management, project team development, and role definition within the business unit.
  • Staffing Decisions: Collaborate with corporate teams on hiring, terminations, performance reviews, salary adjustments, and talent development.
  • Communication: Ensure clear communication within the business unit and facilitate necessary updates.
  • Staff Meetings: Lead regular meetings with key personnel to address management issues, safety, and productivity improvements.
  • Safety & Risk Management: Maintain a strong focus on safety protocols and risk management across all business unit operations.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage budgeting, project setups, pricing monitoring, cost reviews, and cash position. Address financial discrepancies between estimates and actuals.
  • Overall Accountability: Responsible for labor, materials, project performance, safety, profit and loss, and all operational aspects of the business unit.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Industry expertise with knowledge of competitors and standards.
  • Ability to handle tasks beyond the typical job scope when necessary.

Travel Requirements:
  • Minimal travel (0-5%) to job sites or office locations.
