Role Overview
As the Director, Energy Storage, you will shape the project development strategy for our energy storage projects. You will oversee the full development lifecycle for energy storage projects, from site selection to financial close. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with various key stakeholders, including regulators, utilities and landowners.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute US Solar's energy storage strategy to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, industry standards and company goals
Oversee existing pipeline, new development and acquisition of energy storage projects
Develop and manage strategy, goals, and execution for the assigned business segments, including management of a team
Provide subject matter expertise across the company for matters relating to energy storage, including coupling energy storage to existing projects, community solar pipeline, and other opportunities
Identify business opportunities, form relationships with key utilities and develop community engagement activities consistent with our storage strategy
Identify viable sites for storage project development
Collaborate with legal and finance team to negotiate project and funding agreements
Communicate complex development situations and work through issues as they arise from site selection through construction
Ownership of project assumptions and coordinating updates with various internal groups
Manage project risks and opportunities
Maintain vigorous understanding of the state of the energy storage market, including regulatory and competitive matters to inform development decisions
Oversee project progress through development milestones, schedules and budgets
Manage due diligence activities for acquisitions
Core Competencies:
7+ years of energy storage project development experience with independent system operators
Proven experience with project management, permitting, interconnection, offtake negotiation, real estate and other matters critical to energy storage project development
Demonstrated success developing energy storage projects
Experience preparing and negotiating various commercial agreements, including development, site control, consulting and service agreements, interconnection and power sales agreements
Understanding of the ISO markets with focus on interconnection, regulatory and offtake matters
Ability to evaluate programs and efficiently inform critical decision making with the executive team
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related field, Business, Construction, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science, Management or Engineering preferred
Deep knowledge of and passion for the energy storage marketplace and renewable industry development
Demonstrated energy storage project development success
Familiarity with relevant state and local codes, procedures and regulations
